Depending on the place you live, you may still be able to go out for a jog in December, but for the rest of us, we have to find alternatives for staying active during the colder months. There’s nothing wrong for switching from outdoor activities to home workouts during the colder months of the year. If you take the decision to exercise at home, you should read the following tips and check them off your list before starting:
Find the best place for a home workout.
If you’re planning to work out at home, you must find the best place to do so. Of course you’re not going exercise on top of your bed so you better find a good room where you can do your routine. It would be ideal to have a spare room you can transform into a mini gym but it’s ok if you don’t. Just remember to have enough space to work out because if you’re moving furniture every time you want to exercise at home, you’ll give it up in a matter of weeks if not days.
Don’t have enough space? This doesn’t mean you have to give up the idea of home workouts but that you just adjust. Buy a floor mat and try yoga or get some weights.
Discover the best time to exercise at home
When setting up your home workout schedule, don’t forget to think about things that may interfere with your routine. Kids arriving from school, having to make dinner, laundry day or other actions can make you stop exercising and not getting the best results.
If you’re planning to do a home workout choose the best time to do: when the kids are at school, in the morning before everybody wakes up or in the evening when people tend to wind down and chill so they don’t get in your way.
Buy the best gear for a home workout
Now that you found the place and discovered the time when you can do your home workout, you should make sure you have the right gear. Even if we’re talking about exercising at home, this doesn’t mean you shouldn’t have the proper gear.
Buy a floor mat if you plan to do yoga, get some weights for your training or get a Door gym if you want to build a workout around it since it allows you to perform a lot of exercises.
You should also be dressed properly. Don’t work out in your pajamas and always keep hydrated.

The following home workout is appealing for people who don’t have enough space in their house for more demanding workouts. It’s an easy and fast way to exercise your abs and it should be mixed with other fitness routines during the week since you’re only working out your abdominal muscles.

The next one targets people who are already in a good shape and love to do weight workouts but don’t have the equipment at home. You only need a cheap dumbbell set showing us that bodybuilding doesn’t have to be expensive or take a lot of time or space.

Jillian Michaels shows us a fitness routine for people who have a little bit more room in their house. We found this to be really fun and easy to do while making sure we stick to the 6 week schedule. You can target multiple muscle groups simultaneously. Please not that this isn’t a quick home workout since it will take up to 40 minutes of your time.
